I recently cleaned out all the vents/fans/heatsink on the desktop, as it had started getting too hot, ever since doing this the heating problem I had with a different case returned. While someone was on bejewelled earlier the cpu reached 53c and what I think is the cpu fan reached 5400 rpm, it's noisy as hell! I'm just wondering if I have caused this myself removing the heatsink to brush all the dust out. Should the heatsink be removed while cleaning? also the computer had been running for about 20 minutes, if you are to remove the heatsink, should you make sure it's cool?
I did not find the right solution from the internet.
