With the Los Angeles Rams hosting the Minnesota Vikings on the best Thursday Night matchup to date in the young 2018 NFL season Los Angeles Rams T-Shirt , both teams are expected to be slightly shorthanded. The Vikings will be without star EDGE Everson Griffen (get well soon) while the Rams will not have CB Aqib Talib for sure. Here are some of the Vikings expected to have a big impact in the matchup.S Harrison SmithThe best safety in the NFL, Smith continues his great career with a good start to the season. The first round pick from Notre Dame continues to expand his game, even showing some pass rushing ability from his free safety spot with two sacks in the first three games of the season. In addition to the sacks, Smith has 20 total tackles, a forced fumble, and interception.RB Dalvin CookComing back after a strong rookie season was cut short, RB Dalvin Cook looks to pick up after missing Week 3 with a hamstring injury. Cook has started the season a little slow in his first two games with only 78 rushing yards on 26 carries. Cook seems to have an expanded role in the passing game with 12 targets in two games so look for Cook to try and take advantage of the perceived weakness of the Rams linebacker coverage.WR Adam ThielenAlthough receiver mate Stefon Diggs gets more of the flash, it is Adam Thielen who is dominating the receiving for the Vikings. Thielen leads the Vikings targets (44) Los Angeles Rams Hats , receptions (32), and yards (338) while also contributing a touchdown. With both starting cornerbacks potentially out for the matchup, look for Kirk Cousins to look for Thielen early and often.QB Kirk CousinsSpeaking of Cousins, the quarterback had a very forgettable game against the Buffalo Bills last week. Cousins threw for 55 times for only 296 years while also throwing a touchdown and interception. For the season, Cousins has been efficient but more of a “dink and dunk” type of quarterback as he’s completed 68.3% of his passes for seven TDs. Cousins has also thrown two interceptions while fumbling the ball three times. Look for Cousins to try and rebound after a rough outing against the injury riddled secondary.EDGE Danielle HunterWith Everson Griffen working through personal matters, it has been EDGE Danielle Hunter who has played very well on the opposite side, even with his absence. Through three games, Hunter has earned a sack in each contest. Hunter has totaled 15 tackles and looks to fill Griffen’s void as the premeire pass rusher for the squad. Look for Hunter to get his chance against Andrew Whitworth and Rob Havenstein.Random Ramsdom 9/13: A special teams injury crisis! Pharoh Cooper to miss significant after ankle surgery | OC RegisterThis is the story of the week for the LA Rams. WR Pharoh Cooper is a big part of the special teams and provided some depth at wide receiver. Rams re-sign JoJo Natson Los Angeles Rams Womens Hoodie , move Pharoh Cooper to the I.R. | Rams official siteWR JoJo Natson looked great in the preseason games, so it’s no surprise that he was signed immediately after the reports surfaced of the Cooper injury. And it looks like WR Mike Thomas will miss significant time as well — so this signing makes sense. Greg Zuerlein named NFL special teams player of the week | LA TimesEven though he missed his first field goal attempt of the game on Monday night, Greg the leg was still able to snag the special teams player of the week award after four consecutive field goals that gave the Rams a comfy lead. His successful 55-yard attempt was probably what put him over the top. I mean, that’s just a guess. Injury report for Rams-Cardinals week 2 matchup | Turf Show TimesIn case you missed this report that went up last night, here’s the gist: RB Todd Gurley is a non-participant in a cancelled practice. The NFL is wild. Aqib Talib says Rams defense had to ‘freestyle’ against Raiders | Rams WireCB Aqib Talib had some interesting things to say about his first regular season game as an LA Ram. Five takeaways on the Rams victory over the Raiders | Rams official siteHow did the Los Angeles Rams turn their fortunes around in the second half of the Monday Night Football matchup with the Oakland Raiders? Rams insider Myles Simmons has some thoughts. LA native Jay Rock will perform at Rams home opener on Sunday | Rams official siteIf you aren’t familiar with Jay Rock, you should check him out. Originally from Watts, CA, Rock is a frequent collaborator with Kendrick Lamar and was featured on the Black Panther soundtrack Womens Customized Los Angeles Rams Jerseys , which is pretty great. He’ll be performing before the game on Sunday. Are the Rams the next target of the copycat NFL? | Ozy.comCoach McVay has done a brilliant job coming up with offense schemes that are constantly keeping defenses on their toes. Even with an offseason to prepare against the Rams, McVay and company were still able to run their play-action with precision and other teams are officially on notice. Sean McVay does his spooky brain thing again | DeadspinCall it a parlor trick or a reason why he’s already a top coach in the NFL, but damn, Coach Sean McVay knows his football plays, even plays from games that he’s not directly connected to!
